Assessment

  • All classes will have two rounds of Fortnightly Tests (beginning from the 3rd week of April). Two Quarterly Tests (in June and December), Half-Yearly Examination in the last of September. But all the tests-Unit test or quarterly test will be called Unit Tests.
  • For promotion to the next higher class, 20% of the Unit Tests, 30% of Half-Yearly Examination and 50% of Annual Examination will be added and decision for promotion will be taken. For outright promotion pupils should secure 40% marks in each individual subject.
  • An internal assessment of the pupils will be made by the teacher on 100 marks. These marks will be added to the marks obtained in different subjects. The assessment will be made on attendance (20 marks), conduct, discipline and obedience (20 marks), tidiness in dress & shoes, books and copies (20 marks), home tasks and vacation tasks (20 marks) and participation and performance in different co-curricular activities like sports, quiz, extempore speech, debate, cultural activities like music, dance recitation etc. (20 marks)

  • Quarterly Progress Reports will be forwarded to the parents/guardians. For easy and instant evaluation of performance and for fostering a spirit of competition for securing a higher level card, the report cards are of 4 colours indicating different levels of performance, given below:
    • Pupils securing 80% marks and above Yellow Card, called GOLD CARD
    • Pupils securing 60% to 79% marks White Card, called SILVER CARD
    • Pupils securing 40% to 59% marks Pink Card, called BRONZE CARD
    • Pupils securing below 40% marks Blue Card, called O-CARD

This colour categorization of the performance of the pupils enable all concerned, particularly the teachers and parents/guardians to understand the level of the performance immediately. Measures are taken so that pupils securing O-CARD are in constant vigil and care of the teachers. Pupils securing GOLD CARD in all the Tests and Examinations during an academic years are declared the "Outstanding Vivekans of the Year" and will be awarded with a Certificate of Proficiency. Student(s) showing all round achievement all through the year is declared the "Most Outstanding Vivekan" of the year.

Unlike other schools, the Academy shall return the evaluated answer-scripts of all tests and examinations, so that parents/guardians are constantly aware of the plus points and minus points of their children. After Half-Yearly and Annual Examinations OPEN HOUSE programme will be followed, wherein parents will be invited to check the copies in front of the teachers, so that if anomaly if found, can be corrected on the spot.

After Open House Programme, no complaint regarding assessment of the scripts will be entertained.
